DEPARTMENT PROFILE

Mechanical engineering is one of the major activities in engineering profession and its principles are involved in the design, study, development and construction of nearly all of the physical devices and system. Continued research and development has led to better machines and processes helping the mankind.
Mechanical Engineering activities at KVCET commenced from 2004 with an intake of 60 people. Department aims to provide excellent teaching/learning environment to the students using various methodologies for good grasping of subject.
The department has started its own CAD-CAM center to impart training to the
students of mechanical engineering on various industry specific softwares such as CATIA V-5, making them adaptive to technical challenges.
Department also runs its own library well equipped with almost all reference books prescribed by the Anna University Curriculum. There are about 96 titles, 357 volumes, Handbooks of “ Steam Engineering” and “ Vickers Manual “ etc.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND FACILITIES

Mechanical department has modern labs with excellent infrastructure. Department has been equipped with laboratories(Fluid Mechanics and Machinery Lab, Manufacturing Technology Lab, Strength of Materials Lab, Thermal Engineering Lab,Dynamics Lab Metrology and Measurements Lab, CAD / CAM Lab , Mechatronics Lab) are well established with all the equipments listed by the university from standard suppliers. All the equipments are calibrated consistently to maintain its precision.
