DEPARTMENT PROFILE

KVCET has taken a strategic initiative by starting the Biotechnology Programme in the year 2002. The current student-intake is 45. This Program is affiliated to Anna University and has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, New Delhi. The department has faculty members with more than a decade of experience in teaching, research and industrial exposure from various areas in Biotechnology. Faculty members and students of the Department have professional body membership in the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB), Biotech Research Society of India (BRSI), Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IICHE) etc. Our students are doing their higher studies in reputed Indian and foreign universities. Department is full-fledged with laboratories that include Biochemistry, Bio-organic Chemistry, Bio-informatics, Bio-Process, Cell Biology, Genetic Engineering, Immunology, Instrumental Methods of Analysis, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Chemical Engg and Downstream Processing.
We have Memorandum of Understanding with Industries such as Central Leather Research Institute,Chennai., Pondchy Pharmaceuticals, Pondicherry and Jogeo Leather Industry, Chennai inorder to enhance research and development in the department.
